The full title was "Managing AI as Your Subordinate — an AI strategy that maximizes results through articulation, design, and judgment." The 60-minute talk was followed by a 30-minute Q&A session moderated by Yogo Fuketa, Lumada Alliance Director at Hitachi, Ltd.
Otsuka is the author of '#100DayChallenge' (Nikkei BP, 2025), a record of building an app every day for 100 consecutive days, and serves as representative of both Hundreds LLC and Hundreds US, LLC. She spends two hours a day on the company's routine operations; the rest goes to instructing AI and deciding whether to accept or reject what comes back.
The talk covered what people who get results actually do, rather than how to operate AI tools. It was built around three points — articulating instructions, designing the work, and the experience behind judgment — and presented real incidents from the company's own development work along with how they were handled.
The third engagement across the Hitachi Group
This was Otsuka's third speaking engagement across the Hitachi Group, following Hitachi's Research & Development Group at Kyoso-no-Mori in May 2025 and Hitachi Industry & Control Solutions in September 2025. It was the second at Hitachi, Ltd. itself.
The talk was full of eye-opening content that made me think, "So this is what it means to use AI to the fullest and get results." It reminded me that how you give instructions and how you think matter more than the technology itself. I want to try this way of "managing AI as a subordinate" right away.
